North Carolina’s Tae Retro Makes A Statement With New Mixtape “The Main Protagonist”

Tae Retro is an upcoming rapper out of Kinston, North Carolina. What makes Tae Retro so unique and separates him from the batch of upcoming artist in his area is his sound being so much different from everyone else. I got put on to Tae Retro hearing his “Cortex Freestyle“. Instantly Tae’s intellectual wordplay while keeping his flow fun stood out to me.

Tae makes his debut our page with the release of 9 track mixtape “The Main Protagonist” . On The Main Protagonist Tae Retro does what I expected him to do, deliver. Tae delivers a youthful energy to each track, rapping as if he’s the best rapper that no one has heard yet.

Like a majority of emerging acts Tae’s songs are sample ridden and add a bit of nostalgia upon listen. Take track “Every Girl Freestyle” for example where Tae samples Young Money’s hit record “Every Girl”. However Tae doesn’t rely merely on dope samples to carry his mixtape. The tape features several great records such as “Phil Jackson” featuring BabyTron & Stanwill, “5 Star Recruit” & “Tone Setter“.

“The Main Protagonist” is one of my favorite drops of March and this project will be the one to put Tae Retro on people’s radar.
