BSF Rick Hyde New Album to Honor Legend DJ Shay

Injecting heavy doses of lyricism on all of the Black Soprano Family’s projects is Buffalo, New York’s Rick Hyde. He’s now serving up his sophomore project titled “ Plates 2 “. And believe me when I tell you it is a feast of bars. Gritty, grimey, and the truest essence of Hip-Hop… Rick Hyde’s BSF debut is an explosion of a build up from his previous infectious appearances.

Released on the one year anniversary of the late great DJ Shay, he honored the legend with a sonic nirvana of metaphorical . Passing at the young age of 48, DJ Shay left an imprint on New York that lives on in Buffalo’s music scene and beyond. A father figure to Hyde, his legacy is one that will last a lifetime.

Shay cultivated the Buffalo sound back in the 90’s. Releasing my debut BSF project on the anniversary of his passing is both a tribute, and a thank you to Shay.”

Hyde’s Global Debut

‘ Plates 2 ‘ marks the third release from BSF’s new deal with Entertainment One, preceding Gangsta Grillz x BSF Da Respected Sopranos and Heem’s Long Story Short. A big moment for the artist, as this marks his first global release. Enthralling features flood the project from Benny The Butcher, Meyhem Lauren, Skyzoo, Westside Gun, and several others. Inevitably masterful production was presented by DJ Shay, The Alchemist, Harry Fraud, and Daringer. Vintage synths, a heavy base, and Hyde’s rhymes cultivate a powerful hustlers tale of both struggle and triumph.

16 Tracks of Heat

He opens the project with an impactful introduction. A short a cappella moment leads into soulful background harmonies and Tearz aggressively humbling rhymes. The project features ‘ Alone ‘ which Hyde previously released a visualizer. An infectious piano melody backs the methodical bars presented by Hyde, Benny The Butcher, and G Herbo. He matched the accolade of a global release with the presentation of an otherworldly soundscape to support skillful bars and raw experiences.

To celebrate the release Hyde unleashed a cinematic visual. The mini-movie highlights the mob code of ethics upheld by the Black Soprano Family. Check out the visual for ‘ Black Sinatra’. The track was produced by DJ Shay and features Benny The Butcher and Heem.
