This past weekend, (August 23rd-24th) AFROPUNK, partnered with BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, bringing the two day event to Prospect Park.
The day was officially kicked off by Amari Marshall, who welcomed attendees with infectious energy and got the crowd hyped for the festivities ahead.

Day Uno was filled with tons of exciting events and performances. My favorite non music event was watching the LPW Pro Wrestling matches. The crowd was on their feet through the intense bouts.

My favorite performance of Day one (outside of Badu) was emerging New Jersey artist, The Artist. She has crowd control and sounded amazing live.

Day One concluded with Erykah Badu performing her Ba-Deux set in which she brought out both Thundercat and Raspody.
Day two was truly the best day of the weekend. The day featured a show-stopping performance from Durand Bernarr, who made a triumphant return to the AFROPUNK main stage.
Closing out the weekend was the legendary Erykah Badu, who returned for night two of her much-anticipated Ba-Deux set. Surprising fans, Badu welcomed Durand Bernarr back to the stage who provided backup vocals to her iconic songs. Her performance was a fitting end to a weekend that celebrated artistry, community, and the diversity of Black culture.

AFROPUNK 2024 was a success and is an example of what Black festivals should be. Black businesses were able to sell food and merch while everyone enjoyed a peaceful and safe weekend in Brooklyn, New York.
