TRACK 1: Chi
The intro of a project is very important. You want to be able to catch the attention of the listener and build momentum for the rest of the tracks. On “Chi” Chino Brown does just that.
Although Chi is the opener, it is one of my favorite tracks off of the project. CB sheds some light on his past while detailing his current life over the guitar laden production.
TRACK 2: Savage
On Savge, Chino ups the tempo and brings a different type of “chi”and flow than he did on the intro. Fellow 3VOLVE Music Group member, Brooklyn’s Jlore, came through with a dope feature to compliment CB’s effort.
As a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, “Cold shoulder with the semi, all red like a Kappa” is easily my favorite bar on the track.
Track 3: Bend OVA
This is my favorite track on the project, partly because of how unique the production is, the other reason being Chino finding a flow that could fit the beat. Bend OVA is more than an attempt at a strip club anthem or twerk song, Chino’s actually speaks on real topics such as doing what he has to do to make sure his kid is good.
TRACK 4: KLOK
We’re now at the midway point of the tape and so far the album is an enjoyable listen, Chino doesn’t let us down with track 4, KLOK. Chino spits two of my favorite verses on the entire album on this track. KLOK also features one of the album’s best feature verses from De Monroe.
TRACK 5: Butta Kream Dream
Butta Kream Dream is the most lyrical song on the entire project Chino Brown prides himself on delivering lyricism in his songs and Butta Dream Dream is the prime example. Although this is not my favorite tack on the project I do think it’s the best.
TRACK 6: Bottom
On Track 6, Chino changes up the tempo and mood of the project with Bottom. An uptempo bop detailing his days in the hood “I’m from the gutta I’m from the streets, I’m from the bottom”. Chino seems at ease over the fast paced production.
TRACK 7: Listen
Listen features the last two features of the project from Wi$dum and EBANDZ. Listen isn’t a bad track, but I just wasn’t feeling Chino’s or EBANDZ verses. Earlier I said De Monroe has “one of the best features” on the project, that is because Wi$dum bodied his verse.
TRACK 8: Treachery (H.T.E)
Atlas, we’ve reached the album’s final track, Treachery. Like Listen before it, I wasn’t a big fan of Treachery. With a very generic sound, CB lacks that originality that he proved he can bring to a track earlier in the project.
