Atlanta rapper Swavay continues to build momentum as one of the more unique emerging artists coming out of the city’s current scene.
Although Swavay has been putting in work for years, he first caught our attention with his 2025 release “No Deluxe”, where records like “All I Do” stood out immediately.
Since then, we’ve been checking for every new release from the Atlanta artist, including his latest EP “The Prelude.”
The 7-track project clocks in at just 22 minutes, making it a quick but strong listen. The opening track immediately grabs attention as Swavay receives a co-sign from Atlanta legend Jermaineu Dupri. A stamp that naturally forces listeners to pay attention.
The Prelude feels more like a warm-up for what’s next from Swavay, potentially setting the stage for Billy 3. Standout tracks from the EP include “Back To The Trap Freestyle,” “YDKM,” “Doing My Best,” “Juicy Crab 2,” and “Sixx Minutes.”
Sonically, Swavay feels more cut from the cloth of artists like JID than Young Thug, bringing an emphasis on storytelling, lyricism, and wordplay rather than leaning fully into the traditional trap sound often associated with Atlanta rap.
