New Orleans native Rob49 has quickly become one of rap’s most recognizable new voices since breaking out with “Vulture Island.”
He had the culture in a chokehold last year with the viral anthem “WTHelly” a phrase that still somehow slips into everyday conversation.
Now, Rob49 is back in motion with his new single “Do It,” and this time the internet has locked in on it for a different reason. The record is gaining traction not just because it’s catchy, but because of the wave of memes calling it “sneaky” a playful nod to its hypnotic, almost covert-sounding production.
Some users online have even tied the conversation back to the long-running joke about New Orleans rappers and their signature “ghetto spy music” style of beats.
Regardless of the internet jokes, “Do It” is clearly resonating.
