Kanye West returns with Bully, a highly anticipated project that blends together different eras of his career. Whether you’re a fan of the soulful, sample-heavy sound from Graduation or the experimental edge of Yeezus, there’s something here for all sides of Ye.
The album serves as his first properly released solo project since Donda 2 and features appearances from Travis Scott, CeeLo Green, Don Toliver and more.
Standout records early on include “Punch Drunk” and “Whatever Works,” two of the strongest moments on the project that bring listeners back to the College Dropout–Graduation era of Ye.
As expected, the rollout hasn’t been without controversy. James Blake, who was originally featured on the album, publicly requested to be removed from the project. (Via @kurrco)
The release also arrives amid Ye’s latest polarizing statements and political affiliations, once again raising the question: can fans separate the art from the artist?
