Jay Worthy Makes a Case for the Year’s Best West Coast Album With ‘Once Upon A Time

No artist has repped Compton (or Bompton) harder than Jay Worthy. He’s also been one of the most consistent artists not just on the West Coast, but in the game overall.

Jay Worthy jumped back into the 2025 mix with his new 15-track project, Once Upon A Time. The album stays true to his signature formula of street tales, player vibes, and hustler mentality — all told through the lens of a rapper who’s lived it.

The project features a heavy dose of West Coast energy, with appearances from Kamaiyah, 03 Greedo, Larry June, and more. One thing that’s always made Jay Worthy stand out is how he bridges the gap between coasts — this time bringing in East Coast spitters like Jim Jones, Dave East, and Conway the Machine.

Standout tracks for me include “2P’z,” “Choosing Shoes,” “Open Minded” featuring Leven Kali, “Tides” featuring Aaradhna, and “Bellagio” featuring Conway the Machine. Each one brings something different, but they all carry that signature Worthy bounce.

Jay also recently blessed fans with a new visual for “96 Big Body,” further adding to the momentum around the project.

“Once Upon A Time” is easily one of my favorite drops of 2025 so far — and with Disc 2 dropping this Friday, I can’t wait to hear what’s next from Jay Worthy.
