Jyou Drops New Summer Song “HIIT” + Exclusive Interview Now Live

Nashville-based alternative hip-hop artist Jyou is turning up the heat this summer with the release of his latest single, “HIIT.” The high-octane track blends Southern grit with infectious energy, capturing everything from spontaneous dance floors to late-night decisions made under neon lights. Released via East Music Row Records, “HIIT” marks the beginning of a bold new era for the rising star.

Produced by Austin Luther, the track leans into hard-hitting 808s, slick southern charm, and Jyou’s signature tongue-in-cheek lyricism. Rooted in the pulse of Nashville’s evolving hip-hop scene, “HIIT” is more than a club record — it’s a sonic snapshot of the modern South.

“I wanted to make something that felt real and rooted in the South, but flipped on its head,” says Jyou. “Many people might not realize that Nashville truly is a melting pot of culture and musical influences — and ‘HIIT’ is hip-hop through my lens.”

Who is Jyou?

Born and raised in North Nashville, Jyou grew up surrounded by music, faith, and performance — the son of two ministers and a former child actor. That foundation has fueled a unique creative journey. From his early work with underground duo KON (named Best Hip-Hop Act by Nashville Scene in 2023) to co-founding the artist collective Inner Circle, Jyou has consistently pushed boundaries while staying rooted in his identity.

His previous releases like “Nest” revealed a more introspective side — blending blues and rock into meditative, genre-fluid storytelling. And his live shows? Nothing short of electric. He’s rocked stages at The East Room, Soho House Nashville, Analog, and even opened for Chief Keef at TSU Homecoming in 2021.

Now, with “HIIT,” Jyou signals that he’s just getting started.

The Label Backing the Vision

“HIIT” is Jyou’s first official release under East Music Row Records, an independent, artist-first label founded in 2024 by David Robkin, Johnny Gates, and Austin Luther. Known for trusting instinct over algorithms, East Music Row is building a reputation for amplifying voices that don’t fit in a box — and Jyou fits that ethos perfectly.

“I’ve never wanted to be boxed in,” says Jyou. “I’m Southern, I’m alternative, I’m hip-hop, I’m theater. I’m visual. I’m visceral.”
