With a year gap since his last EP, Houston-based alt-R&B artist, Justin Michael has shattered the conventional definition of R&B music with his new release, “Missing Person.”
This project is a reminder of the genre’s unorthodox roots and the limits that can be pushed when you have an artist who isn’t afraid to not sound like anyone else.
This 10-track offering paints a very clear picture of what it’s like to get overlooked or looked past in day-to-day life. Giving a voice to the voiceless, Justin uses his platform to empower people and expose sensitive topics. His high level of transparency within his songwriting is what takes this album to another level compared to his past releases.
Speaking on the project, Justin says “I wanted it to be cohesive this time around telling my story, really bringing people into my world and allowing myself to be more personal and vulnerable as I’m going into this next arch.”
The fact that Justin isn’t afraid to be an artist we’ve never quite experienced before is what makes him so polarizing. It’s hard to imagine seeing him peaking anytime soon since he already understands the importance of building a deeper connection with his core audience.
