Last year, The Eastside General, Letter M went on a crazy music run after going on a two-year hiatus. He dropped two subsequent projects “Life Ain’t Fair – EP” and “But I Ain’t Fair” and brought us hits such as “Fell Down” and “M Went Bape”. However, at Q1 of 2024, M is taking on a whole new approach to his sound with Taylor Port Tears. We are getting love ballads, flows about the ups and downs in relationships and something for the real yearners.
M invited artists Shamba, IAMSPLIFF, Risa Pearl, Destiny Briona, Casio and producer group TrackTeam onto the tracklist. Fade to Black is the current standout track on the tape. Sprung with oksurf reminds me of a Sahbabii and T3 collab track – real Sahbabii fans know. He even gives us a solid drill track with HeartBreakKid.
I love seeing rappers dip into their R&B bag – it’s a refreshing take to an artist’s discography and lets their audience see just how passionate they are about learning the craft.
I was able to catch up with M recently and asked if he could share his take on what drove the inspiration behind TPT.
“First I must say… I drunk Taylor Port in different spaces of the creation process of this project while I was trying to decide if I should fight for love or change my focus to something that poured back into me. I definitely had a bottle that I was drinking like juice while wrapping up the album and worked on the final song which is also ending up being the title track “Taylor Port Tears“.
This album is a very therapeutic expression of an umbrella of emotions from the depths of my heart and soul. I’m allowing myself to be completely transparent and vulnerable and hopefully resulting that it can be a warm embracing hug to anyone that can hears and relate. I would advise to drink some Taylor Port while listening cause it’ll definitely hit harder. It might be even emotional enough to let sum tears fall.
