Sonny Digital is on his way to releasing his debut project, and apart of that journey is the release of “Gotta Slide”. The single follows last month’s “Like This” as well as the previously released single and visual for “Could Be Worse”. Much like the previous two tracks, “Gotta Slide” is also accompanied by an official visual.
The video takes the viewer through the experience of Sonny “sliding” on the behalf of his younger brother, who was shot. The visual also ends where it starts, representing an exact depiction of the karmic cycle that occurs when attempting to avenge a loved one’s death.
In fact, Sonny opens the song up with the chorus of;
“If my brother died I swear to God I gotta slide (Slide)
If my brother died I swear to God I gotta (Gotta do it) (Yeah)
If my brother died I swear to God I gotta slide (Slide)
If my brother died I swear to God I gotta (Gotta do it)
Came up from the streets killings every week that’s on me
If my brother died I gotta slide nigga what you think
What you think Ima sit down
I was raised by OGs that ain’t how we get down (huh)”
As Sonny continues his stream of releases from his forthcoming album, listeners continue to learn more about Sonny Digital. On his debut project we get an even closer look at Sonny. ‘Dolores Son’ will see Sonny step from behind the boards to in front of the mic. The album is slated for release on November 3rd.
