Victoria Monet Makes Culture An Aesthetic In Viral “On My Mama” Visual. Trending #16 Trending On YouTube
“ I’m so deep in my bag like a grandma with a peppermint” The brown goddess we know as singer Victoria Monet gave us a visual love letter to the culture with her newly released video for “On My Mama”. Ahead of her release of JAGUAR II, Victoria dropped a music video that has visual fanatics and lovers of the 2000s raving.
Inspired by Chalie Boy’s 2009 radio hit “On My Mama, On My Hood”, Monet revamped the song into a sultry R&B hit that does the sample every bit of justice.
With crafted choreography, Monet is definitely a graduate of Ciara’s university of R&B pop princesses. She even used her moves as a way to pay homage to some memes that are famous on the (black) side of social media (the aunties walking backwards with their handbags and Katie Got Bandz laughing and dancing with a gun).
In the final dance, Monet and her dancers don XXL white t-shirts (YEP IN MY WHITE TEE), sagging jeans, snapbacks and Air Force 1’s while hitting a dance break that included some 2000s dance crazes including the Whoop Rico and Walk It Out.
Victoria has never shied away from perfectly executing an aesthetic, a vocal, or an 8-count. If the rest of the album gives the same energy as this hit, we are for sure to see it top the charts
