Diamond KUT Media: Top 10 Hip- Hop Albums Of 2022 List

2022! This was an interesting year in music. Especially in Hip-Hop. We’ve had insane court cases, tons of artists pass as well as seeing many of the games emerging stars find themselves incarcerated, as quickly as they became stars. We even saw Capitol Records really try to get a jumpstart on everyone and put out an AI rapper. It goes without saying that was an horrible idea that almost kind of got forgotten in this wild year.

Despite all the drama and the effort to integrate weird technological innovations that Hip-Hop went through this year, great art still triumphed all of the BS.

2022 was an up and down year for music me. Their were times I was really excited about new drops and their were times were I was stuck catching up on what released just a month ago or not even caring all together. Maybe it was me or maybe it was the over saturation of mediocre music.

With that being said, their were still plenty of artists who shined. Whether it was dropping hit singles, great albums or going crazy on features, Hip- Hop has had some great moments.

With 2022 now almost at the end, it’s time for out top 10 Albums of ‘22 lists. (Notice this list is cut down to 5 from last year’s 15).

Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums Of 2022.

10. Destroy Lonely – No Stylist

“In a year where we didn’t get full length albums from Carti & Uzi, @destroylonely keep the wave of SoundCloud inspired fashion rap going with a solid album” – Tean Becoate

9. G Herbo – Survivors Remorse

“G Herbo easily dropped one of the 10 best albums of the year. The album had great features that complimented each track well. This album got overlooked by many but it’s top 10 for me” – Tean Becoate

8. Westside Gunn – 10

“10 is the final album in the #HWH series and is personally one of my favorite. This album is blended street rap and fashion rap perfectly” – Tean Becoate

7. Babyface Ray – FACE

“As Detroit continues to become one of Hip-Hop’s newest breeding grounds for talent, #babyfaceray has been leading the pack with his mellow flows focused on getting to a bag.” – Tean Becoate

6. Conway The Machine – God Don’t Make Mistakes

God Don’t Make Mistakes will have your head boopin the whole time. Conway The Machine gave the listeners an album with straight bars. Speaking of bars, some of the best bars are on “Tear Gas”. – Alfred Sanchez

5. Larry June – Spaceships On The Blade

“This album is perfect for driving with the top down and smoking a joint. Larry June provides a relaxing sound while still giving out game. If there was a sound track to my 2022, it would be this album” – Alfred Sanchez

4. Joey Bada$$ – 2000

“Joey took some time off from making music to focus on his acting career however the wait for a new album was worth it. Joey never disappoints when it comes to quality and subject matter with his albums, and 2000 fits the bill” – Tean Becoate

3. Metro Boomin – Heroes & Villains

“The Cohesiveness of the album is what stood out the most. It’s more than just album, its an experience. You want to listen to the whole album in order almost every time, knowing its a fire album. Plus it gave us the duo no one knew we needed in @21savage and @theweeknd “ – Alfred Sanchez

2. Benny The Butcher – Tana Talk 4

“The Cohesiveness of the album is what stood out the most. It’s more than just album, its an experience. You want to listen to the whole album in order almost every time, knowing its a fire album. Plus it gave us the duo no one knew we needed in 21 Savage and The Weeknd “ – Alfred Sanchez

1. Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers

“Kendrick got out of his comfort zone when it comes to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. He was able to express how he feels and everything he has been through since the last time he dropped DAMN in 2017. This project was the unanimous Album of the Year once it hit streaming platforms” – Alfred Sanchez
