“When Muva say jump, they ask “How high?” – FEELIN INSIDE (feat. Destin Laurel)
There are so many artists with various personas that are breaking ground in the city. I got an artist that is head of the ‘Muva Militia’ and got the girls rocking camo and pink. A lot of girls have tried to duplicate her. However, there can only be one ItGirl. The Jamaican princess taking over rap in Atlanta, let’s introduce you to her latest album release – LIVE FAST, DIE PRETTY.
ItGirl truly lives up to her name. She’s never been afraid to give a new trend for the girls to aspire to. To give some personal flair to her sound on this tape, her father participated by being the announcer/hypeman on her tracks. Now let’s get to the breakdown of this tape.
DISC 1
“Look good in person, fuck the internet” CONSTANTLY HATING is the standout track on DISC 1, giving a self-nod to the consistent work she puts in for her music. “I give em hellcat like I’m straight outta Gotham”. She links up with Vayda for the official FIVE GUYS (REMIX), an upbeat pop-ish feeling rap track.
FEELIN INSIDE is my personal favorite from DISC 1 as she catches a collab with East Atlanta’s Destin Laurel just as he is entering his debut tape era.
DISC 2
“I could teach you something, I’m the tutor type” Her title track ITGIRL gives a formal introduction to herself and her flow. SALUTA MY SHOOTA is a shoutout to the people or her “shootas” that are her biggest supporters and it introduces her personal lingo.
“How you gonna subtweet the trend topic?” My personal favorite on this tape is her collab with South Carolina’s Lisha G on REMIX REROCK.
ITGIRL is never not knowing how powerful her influence is and that makes her music have such a signature sound.
She’s already gearing up with some new drops with her PLM (Pink Lives Matter) EP release including “IN MY GLO” and “ARRIBA” that drops on November 5th.
