Grammy Award Winning Song Writer Nija Charles Is Releasing Her Inner Voice In New Single “Love Like This”
Before Lady Gaga became the industry’s fame monster, she penned songs for Adam Lambert, Brittney Spears, and even the Pussy Cat Dolls. It’s no surprise that Jessie J’s “Price Tag” was an instant chart topper, considering she is also the writer of Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA”. Rihanna’s “Take A Bow”, Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” and Jennifer Hudson’s’ Spotlight all emerged from the hands of RnB star NeYo.
Another proven writer possibly making the shift is three-time Grammy award winning songwriter and producer Nija Charles. In January of this year she released her debut solo album ‘Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You’, amassing over 34 million streams.
This week she returns with a track as hot as these summer months, “Love Like This”. Co-written with recurrent collaborator Jack Rochon, the track is carried by a light and welcoming guitar melody, fusing well against simple drums and Nija’s lower tones. She describes the song as a “you can have the last slice type of love”, referencing Monica and Quincy from popular 2000s romance film ‘Love and Basketball’.
Having been featured on Billboard’s “15 RnB & Hip Hop Artists to watch in 2022” Nija Charles solo debut has been well received though she is no stranger to such high accolades.

At 24 years old, Charles has written Billboard charting hits for artists including The Carters, Cardi B, Chris Brown, Maroon 5, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga. RollingStone magazine noted her as “one of the industry’s most sought-after songwriters.”
After picking up the mic, Charles expressed particular freedoms that emerge when writing for herself, versus penning for others.
“When I work with other artists, I’m writing about their story and what they’re going through”, she told the New York Post. “But when I’m writing for myself, I get to express my emotions and speak directly from my heart. It’s a breath of fresh air.”
